We Believe in Prevention Through Education
Our Education Program addresses real-life situations. Our goal is to educate our youth through forums and field trips about issues they should be aware of. By exposing our youth to the realities, we are making them aware, helping them to make better choices and possibly help another peer in need.
Education Program Description
Our Education Program is accomplished by partnering with local organizations to participate in one of the following but not limited to:
Juvenile Criminal and/0r Juvenile Diversion Court
Sit inside a courtroom of Juvenile Court to witness young people who have made poor choices and have to deal with the consequences in the court of law.
- Opportunity to establish relationships with a Judge, respect for the law and see how the judicial system works.
Educational Forums
We will have or attend a meeting that will address critical issues such as:
- Human Trafficking
- Drugs and Alcohol
- Teen Pregnancy and STD’s
- Bullying
Mentor Scholar Program
Team up youth to mentor professionals in the career field the student has interest in. This program serves as an inspiration for our youth and can also build long lasting relationships between the students and professionals. Within this program we can help the youth achieve some of the necessary requirements needed to apply for scholarships.
Self Defense Class
One of our sponsors, Krav Maga, offers a free self defense class for youth and their parents of VYA each month. This is a great opportunity to build tactical awareness, discipline and life saving skills.
